It is narrated on the authority of Amirul Mu’minin, Abu Hafs ‘Umar bin al-Khattab, radiyallahu ‘anhu, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam, say:
“Actions are (judged) by motives (niyyah), so each man will have what he intended. Thus, he whose migration (hijrah) was to Allah and His Messenger, his migration is to Allah and His Messenger; but he whose migration was for some worldly thing he might gain, or for a wife he might marry, his migration is to that for which he migrated.”
[Al-Bukhari & Muslim]
As-salaamu ‘alaikum! Insha Allah I want to remind myself first and everyone of this hadith by our beloved Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam. Actions are indeed judged by intentions… Ibn al Jawzi rahimullah used to say that we should be checking our intentions three times: Once before our act, once in between the act, and once after the act. Surely we know that the greatest of enemies to the Muslims is shaytan, and he can tweak our intentions anytime. We want to purify our hearts & intentions and must constantly re-check them!
This blog is not so much a personal blog that relates to my daily life, but it is personal in the sense that it has to do with the deen of Islam, which is the life of a Muslim. Most of the posts are articles or pearls of knowledge that I have taken benefit from or have been inspired by, and I hope to share these with the readers of this blog as well. One can also call it a compilation of others’ writings which I find to be of great benefit Insha Allah. Not only do I wish to benefit others, but Insha Allah, I hope to further my knowledge and abide by what I learn. One of the keys to raising Iman is to seek ‘Ilm (knowledge)!
The benefits of knowledge can be emphasized by the following hadith:
Related in al-Musnad and other sources, is the hadeeth of Aboo ad Dardaa’, may Allaah be pleased with him, in which he says, The Messenger of Allaah – sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam – said:
“He who treads a path in search of knowledge Allaah will direct him to tread a path from the paths of Paradise. The Angels lower their wings for the student of knowledge in approval of what he does. All in the heavens and earth and the fish in the depth of the water seek forgiveness for the scholar, and the superiority of the scholar over the worshipper is like the superiority of the full moon at night over the rest of the stars. Verily the scholars are the heirs to the Prophets. Verily, the Prophets did not bequeath deenars or dirhams. All they left behind was knowledge, so whoever takes it, has indeed acquired a huge fortune.”
[Al-Musnad, 5/196. Also related by Aboo Daawood, 3/317; at-Tirmidhee 5/49; Ibn Maajah 1/81, ad-Daarimee, 1/98 and ibn Hibbaan, 1/152 (al-Ihsaan). It was declared saheeh by al-Albaanee; see Saheeh al-Jaami 5/302. Ibn Rajab has provided a commentary to this Hadeeth in a small work of his, so one should refer to it.]
In this first episode of Fundamentals of Faith, Abu Ammar Yassir Qadhi talks about the “Importance and Blessings of Islamic Knowledge.” A must see lecture for all.
“The Prophet, Salalahu Alaihi Wa Salam preached La Ilaha Ila Lah, and many are the miracles that he has been given; really we can talk hours and hours about the number of miracles. They don’t number in the hundreds; they number in the thousands! But his greatest miracle was the Miracle of the Qur’an.
Whoever used to worship Allah Azza Wa Jall, then Allah is Al-Hayy, The Ever Living Who never dies!”
May Allah grant us the desire to seek ‘Ilm and abide by it. Ameen.

keep up the good work!
Salaamu alikum
