Note that the title mentions a PRACTICING Muslim… To denounce an entire religion, with over 1.5 billion adherents due to the actions of a few is ridiculous. Being a Muslim comes with responsibility. There is indeed a difference between Muslims who practice and those who simply consider themselves Muslims by name, or due to their parents being Muslims and so on. Allah (swt) does not differentiate between people except in righteousness, as mentioned in the Qur’an:
Surah al Hujurat 49. 13
“O Mankind, We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know each other. Verily the most honored of you in the sight of God is he who is the most righteous of you.”
So do not simply take in what you hear from word of mouth or the media. We should know better than to blindly follow anything. Do the research and if you come in contact with something you cannot find an answer to, consult the Imam of a masjid (mosque) or one who is knowledgeable in the religion of Islam, not simply anyone.
